Most activities you build are a variation on one you have run before. Flagging the earlier one as a template lets you start the next from it, from anywhere in the Lobyco Admin Portal.

What a template is

A template is a flag on an activity you already have, not a separate object stored somewhere. Flagging an offer, a push or a game as a template leaves it exactly as it was — same dates, same status, same audience — and adds it to the list you can pick from when creating a new activity of that type. Three things follow from that:
  • Templates are per activity type. Creating a Push only offers you Push templates.
  • The picker reads the activity as it is now. Editing the original changes what the next copy starts from. It does not reach activities already created from it.
  • Templates come from any campaign, not only the one you are working in. The picker names the campaign each template sits in.
Nine activity types can be templates: Offer, Bonus, Challenge, Game, Banner, Feed, Prompt, Push and Email. The canvas’s other blocks — Seed, Delay, Limit, the API blocks and the event triggers — cannot.
A Segment block has its own Save as template, and it is not this feature. Open a Segment block on the orchestration canvas and its footer offers Save as template in exactly the same place, with exactly the same wording. It does something different: it opens a Provide template name dialog, asks for a Template name, and saves a reusable segment definition. Those appear in the canvas’s Use templates panel under Most used segments — never in the Activity selector described below. So a Segment template does have a confirmation step, and an activity template does not. Read the dialog before you assume which one you got.

Where Save as template appears

The action sits in two places, and both do the same thing. There is no menu to open and nothing to expand. On a normal saved activity the footer carries the button directly, and in both places the label flips in place to Remove from templates once the activity is flagged.
Five of the nine types never offer it inside an orchestration block. Open an Offer, Game, Challenge, Prompt or Push as a block on the orchestration canvas and there is no Save as template anywhere in the form. Only Banner, Feed and Email offer it in a canvas block. Bonus is not a canvas block at all. This is not a permissions problem and no setting turns it on. Flag those five from the menu on the activity’s row in the campaign’s activity list instead.
When the action is available. The activity has to be saved — there is nothing to flag on a form you are still filling in for the first time — and it has to sit in a campaign. An expired activity can still be flagged, and flagging can be switched on and off at any time.A campaign you cannot edit hides the footer action, but the row’s menu still offers it. The exception is Banner, where a read-only campaign hides the whole menu.
Flagging an activity takes effect immediately — there is no confirmation step. (The Segment block above is the one place where there is one.)

Start an activity from a template

Step 1: Open the campaign and add an activity

Go to Campaigns → List, open the campaign that will hold the new activity, and select Add activity. The Select an activity page opens.

Step 2: Choose From template

Find the tile for the type you want and select From template rather than From scratch. The Activity selector opens.

Step 3: Find the template you want

The list shows every template of that type, with Activity name, Campaign name, Start date and End date. Type into Search activity to narrow it — the search matches the activity name and the campaign name.

Step 4: Select one template

Only one template can be used as a starting point. Pick its row, then select Select.

Step 5: Check the prefilled form and save

The activity form opens already filled in. Work through it — the audience and several type-specific settings do not come across — then save or publish. You can do the same from the orchestration canvas. Drop the activity block on the canvas and open it: Create Activity offers From Scratch and From Template, and From Template opens the same Activity selector. It is only offered while the block is still empty — once it holds an activity, opening it goes straight to the form.

Check the result

After flagging. Go back to the campaign’s activity list. The activity’s row now carries a TEMPLATE badge, and the action in its menu reads Remove from templates. Creating a new activity of that type should now list it in the Activity selector. After creating from one. The new activity sits in the campaign’s activity list as a Draft, named Copy of the template’s name, with no TEMPLATE badge of its own. Its dates match the campaign, not the template.

What carries over

Each type drops a few of its own settings. Two of them are severe: a Bonus and a Game arrive missing the setting that defines them.

Find the templates you already have

There is no library of activity templates. (The canvas’s Use templates panel holds Most used segments — segment definitions, not activities.) Go to Campaigns → List, open the filter panel and tick Show templates only. The list narrows to the campaigns holding template activities, and inside each campaign to the template activities themselves. Search with Name of activity or campaign alongside it. The TEMPLATE badge on a row is what identifies the activity itself.

Remove a template

Select Remove from templates. The label simply flips in place — in the row’s menu and in the form footer alike, it is the same control you used to flag the activity, now reading the other way round. The activity stays exactly as it is and anything already built from it is untouched. It just stops appearing in the Activity selector.
Cloning a whole campaign is a different job — see Find and manage campaigns. Copying an activity block on the canvas gives you a plain copy: the template flag is not carried across.

Troubleshooting

I can’t see Save as template

Work through these in order:
  1. Is it already flagged? Then the control reads Remove from templates, not Save as template — the label flips in place rather than appearing alongside. Look for the TEMPLATE badge on the row.
  2. Is this one of the five types that hide it on the canvas? Offer, Game, Challenge, Prompt and Push never show it in an orchestration block. Use the menu on the activity’s row instead.
  3. Has the activity been saved? Save it first. There is no flag on an unsaved form.
  4. Is it inside a campaign? An activity form opened without a campaign around it is read-only and offers no template action.
  5. Can you edit the campaign? A read-only campaign hides the footer action — but the row’s menu still has it, except on a Banner.
  6. Is this a type that supports templates? The nine listed above do; Seed, Delay, Limit, the API blocks and the event triggers do not.

The Activity selector is empty

It says You haven’t saved any templates yet when no activity of that type has been flagged, and offers only Create activity from scratch. The list is per type, so a saved Offer template does nothing for a Push.

A template in the list is greyed out

Its tooltip reads Not available – this template contains resources your account doesn’t have access to. Someone with access to that campaign has to create from it, or you need access granted.

The new activity has the wrong dates

Expected. Dates come from the campaign you are creating in, not from the template.

The new Bonus has no bonus type / the new Game has no rewards

Also expected. Those are cleared deliberately — see What carries over.

I edited a template — did the activities made from it change?

No. Creating from a template copies its settings once. Editing the template afterwards only changes what the next copy starts from.
