Use a bonus to give customers extra bonus while it runs. This page takes you through creating one in Lobyco Nexus, from an empty form to published.
A bonus always belongs to a campaign, so create or open the campaign first.

Add a bonus to your campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns and open the campaign the bonus belongs to, or create a new one.
  2. Select Add activity.
  3. On the Select an activity page, point at the Bonus tile and select From scratch. To start from a saved bonus instead, select From template. Reuse with templates explains how.
The Select an activity page, opened with Add activity from the campaign Autumn bonus weeks, under the heading Select an activity and the line Which type of activity best suits your promotional needs? Nine tiles are in view: Bonus, Challenge, Game and Email in the first row, Offer, Banner, Feed and Prompt in the second, and Push in the third. Each tile has an icon, a Promotion, Offer or Communication badge and a short description. The pointer is on the Bonus tile, which is raised, with its text blurred behind the heading Create activity and two buttons, From template and From scratch. The heading These activities are not available starts below the tiles. The Select an activity page, with the pointer on the Bonus tile The form has three tabs, in this order: Activity details, Activity behaviour and Segmentation. A red number on a tab means something on it still needs filling in. A tick means the tab is complete. The bonus form as it opens from Add activity, headed Bonus. Three numbered tabs run across the top in this order: 1 Activity details, which is open and has a red number, then 2 Activity behaviour and 3 Segmentation. The Details panel shows Select bonus type, Activity name with Example: Bonus week 1 under it, Start date and End date, Sponsor, and Chain(s) OR Store(s), each with an upload icon. Every field is empty. Under the chains and stores is the hint Choose either chains or stores where bonus can be earned, but not both simultaneously. At the bottom are Cancel, and Save and Publish, which are both greyed out. The bonus form as it opens, on Activity details

Fill in Activity details

Start by picking the bonus type. It decides how the extra bonus is worked out, and which fields the next tab shows. Bonus types explains each one. A Redemption Bonus has no dates, chains or stores on this tab. Its dates are on the next tab. It isn’t tied to a chain or store, because it’s based on the customer’s balance, not on a purchase. If you switch to Redemption Bonus after filling in this tab, the dates, chains, stores and sponsor are cleared.

Set how the bonus behaves

Open Activity behaviour. For every type except Redemption Bonus, the tab starts with these fields. Leave both redemption dates empty and the bonus works like any other bonus the customer earns. Below these, the tab shows the fields for your bonus type. A Redemption Bonus shows only its two redemption dates and the Redemption bonus field, which sets the percentage of the balance to add. Its redemption dates are required, and they set when the extra bonus is added and when it expires. Bonus types lists the fields for a Product Bonus, Basket Bonus, Local Bonus, Multiplier Bonus and Redemption Bonus.

Choose who gets the bonus

Open Segmentation. When you choose Target only selected segments, more options open:
  • Turn on Exclude Audiences to leave out the customers in the audiences you pick. Everyone else can earn the bonus.
  • Select Audience picks saved audiences. Select Select from list to choose one, or Create new audience to make one.
  • Select Snapshots picks a snapshot of an audience instead. A snapshot is a copy of the audience at one moment, so its customers don’t change after that.
The Segmentation tab of the bonus form. Activity details and Activity behaviour both show a tick, and Segmentation is open with a red number. Target only selected segments is selected instead of All members. Under it are the Exclude Audiences switch, which is off, and two options: Select Audience, which is selected and has the buttons Select from list and Create new audience, and Select Snapshots. At the bottom are Cancel, Save, and Publish, which is greyed out. Segmentation, with Target only selected segments chosen

Save or publish the bonus

  • Save keeps the bonus as a draft. It stays greyed out until the bonus has a bonus type, a name and its dates.
  • Publish stays greyed out until every required field on all three tabs is filled in. Nexus asks you to confirm first.
If either button is greyed out, look for a tab with a red number. That’s where something is still missing. Select Publish. In the dialog that opens, select Publish now if the start date and time have already passed. The bonus goes live straight away. If it starts later, select Publish there, and it goes live on its start date and time. You’ll know it worked when the bonus shows in the campaign’s activity list as Active or Scheduled.

Troubleshooting

It doesn’t match the layout for its field. Bonus types shows the layout for a Product Bonus file, and for the include or exclude files on a Basket Bonus or Local Bonus.
Another published Product Bonus already gives a different bonus on the same product, in the same chain or store, at the same time. Change the dates, the products, or the chains or stores so they don’t meet. Or give the product the same bonus in both.
