# Keep the same customers for a whole game

> Combine two saved segments with Intersect, fill an audience from them, and give a game a snapshot of that audience so its players don't change.

This page shows you how to pick a fixed group of players for a game, and keep that group the same until the game ends. You combine two saved segments on the canvas, put the result in an audience, and take a snapshot of it. The game then targets the snapshot.

## What you'll build

```mermaid theme={"system"}
    A["Member segment
saved segment 1"] --> C[Intersect]
    B["Member segment
saved segment 2"] --> C
    C --> D["Channel
to an audience"]
    D -.-> E[Snapshot]
    E -.-> F[Game]
```

**[Intersect](/business-documentation/campaigns/orchestration-canvas/block-reference#intersect)** keeps only the customers who are in both segments. The **Channel** block puts them into an [audience](/business-documentation/audiences-and-data/create-an-audience). The dotted steps happen outside the canvas.

An audience filled by a flow changes every time the flow runs, because each run replaces everyone in it. A **snapshot** is a copy of the audience at one moment, and it never changes. So a game that targets the snapshot keeps exactly the players it started with.

## Settings

| Step | What to set here |
| - | - |
| **Member segment**, twice | **From Template**, one saved segment in each, such as *Shops at Store 12* and *Shopped 4+ times this month*. |
| **Intersect** | A **Name**. |
| **Channel** | **Location** **Audience**, a new audience, and **Game** in **Destination(s)**. |
| Snapshot | Taken from the audience once the flow has run. |
| **Game** | **Target only selected segments**, then **Select Snapshots**. |

## Add both saved segments

Open the campaign's **Orchestration** view, in **Design** mode. From **Segment** in the **Block library**, add a **Member segment** and double-click it. In **Create member segment**, choose **From Template** and pick the first saved segment.

Add a second **Member segment** the same way, with the other saved segment.

While a template is linked, its rules are read-only here. [Manage saved segments](/business-documentation/audiences-and-data/manage-saved-segments) explains how to change them.

## Keep the customers in both

From **Operators**, add an **Intersect**. Connect both segments to it. Double-click it, give it a **Name** in **Configure operation**, and select **Save**.

## Put them in an audience

From **Activity**, add a **Channel** and connect the **Intersect** to it. Double-click it to open **Configure channel**.

1. Give it a **Name**.
2. Set **Location** to **Audience**.
3. Select **Create new audience**, and name it, such as *Spring game players*.
4. Under **Destination(s)**, pick **Game**, so the game can use the audience. If you also want it for other activities, pick those too, or **Select all**.
5. Select **Create**, then **Save**.

Select **Save** at the top right of the canvas.

On the left are two Member segment blocks, each with a collapsed Attributes section. The top one, Store 12, carries the Start tab for Flow 13 and a Publish button. The one below it is Shopped 4+ times. They are linked to the saved segments Shops at Store 12 and Shopped 4+ times this month, but the canvas shows only the block names. ## Run the flow once

On the first **Member segment**, the block with the **Start** tab, open the chevron beside **Publish** and choose **Execute**. Confirm. The flow runs once, straight away, and fills the audience. [Or run it now](/business-documentation/campaigns/schedule-and-run-a-campaign#or-run-it-now) explains each option.

You don't need a schedule for this.

## Take a snapshot

1. Go to **Segmentation** → **Audiences**, open the **Active** tab and select your audience. An audience you create in a **Channel** is published straight away, so it's on **Active**.
2. Under **Snapshots**, select **Create Snapshot**. You can only take a snapshot once the audience has customers, so wait for the run to finish.
3. The snapshot shows as **Pending** while Lobyco copies the customers. Select the refresh button beside it until it shows a **Date** and **List size**.

[Take a snapshot](/business-documentation/audiences-and-data/edit-snapshot-or-disable-an-audience#take-a-snapshot) explains what you can do with a snapshot afterwards.

## Add the snapshot to the game

Use a game that isn't triggered, such as one you added with **Add activity**. A triggered game's **Segmentation** is locked to **Triggered**, so it can't use a snapshot. A game stays triggered even if you later remove the block that connects into it. [Games started by a block](/business-documentation/activities/games/create-a-game#games-started-by-a-block) explains the difference.

Open the game and go to its **Segmentation** tab. Choose **Target only selected segments**, then **Select Snapshots**, and pick the snapshot you took.

Publish the game, or save it if you're not ready. [Create a game](/business-documentation/activities/games/create-a-game#choose-who-can-play) covers the rest of the game form.

## Check the result

* The snapshot's **List size** matches the number of customers the run put in the audience. To see that number, open **History** on the canvas, select the run, then the **Intersect**. Its **Count** is the same.
* The game's **Segmentation** tab shows the snapshot.
* If the flow runs again later, the audience changes, but the snapshot's **List size** stays the same.

## Variation: one segment but not the other

To keep the customers in the first segment who are *not* in the second, use **[Exclude](/business-documentation/campaigns/orchestration-canvas/block-reference#exclude)** instead of **Intersect**. Connect the first segment to **Include input 1** and the second to **Exclude input 2**. [Win back lapsed customers](/business-documentation/use-cases/win-back-customers-who-stopped-shopping) builds a flow with it.

To keep customers who are in *either* segment, use **[Combine](/business-documentation/campaigns/orchestration-canvas/block-reference#combine)**.
