# Promotion insights

> The Promotion dashboard on Insights: what your loyalty investment brought in for each campaign, how customers engaged with each kind of activity, and how campaigns trend over time.

**Insights → Promotion** is a dashboard of how your campaigns performed. It shows what you gave loyalty customers in bonus and discounts, the sales that came with it, and how customers engaged with your games, bonuses, challenges and offers.

The date the figures were last updated shows in the top right corner, as **Latest refresh date**.

## At a glance

The dashboard has a row of filters and four sections, from top to bottom.

| Part | What it answers |
| - | - |
| [Filters](#filters) | Which dates and campaigns the dashboard covers. |
| [Key figures](#key-figures) | What you invested in loyalty customers, and what they spent. |
| [Investment by campaign](#investment-by-campaign) | *How are my loyalty investments performing across campaigns?* |
| [Engagement with activities](#engagement-with-activities) | *How are customers engaging with activities?* |
| [Trends over time](#trends-over-time) | *How are campaigns trending over time?* |

## Filters

The filters at the top apply to the whole dashboard.

| Filter | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Analysis period** | Sets the dates the dashboard covers. It starts on **Last 12 months**. The exact dates show under it, as *Analysis period: from – to*. |
| **Campaign(s)** | Narrows the dashboard to the campaigns you pick. Leave it empty to see all your campaigns. |

## Key figures

Each figure shows its change since the same period last year, marked *vs YoY*.

| Figure | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Loyalty Investment** | The value of the bonus and discounts loyalty customers got from your campaigns. |
| **Loyalty Sales** | What loyalty customers spent. |
| **Loyalty Sales to Investment Ratio** | Loyalty Sales divided by Loyalty Investment. A ratio of 1.1 means 1.1 in sales for every 1 you gave back. |
| **Avg Basket Value** | The average value of a loyalty customer's purchase. |

Beside them, **Split of Reward between Bonus and Discount** shows how much of the reward was bonus and how much was discount.

## Investment by campaign

The section titled *How are my loyalty investments performing across campaigns?* has one row per campaign. Select **+** beside a campaign to see its activity types. Select **+** beside a type to see each activity by name.

| Column | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Days Live** | How many days the campaign or activity was live in the period. |
| **Loyalty Investment** | The value of the bonus and discounts it gave loyalty customers. |
| **Loyalty Sales** | What loyalty customers spent with it. |
| **Loyalty Sales To Investment Ratio** | Its Loyalty Sales divided by its Loyalty Investment. |
| **Avg Basket** | The average value of a loyalty customer's purchase with it. |

The first row, **Custom grand total**, adds up all the campaigns in the table.

## Engagement with activities

The section titled *How are customers engaging with activities?* follows customers from getting an activity to using it. Pick the kind of activity in the top right corner: **Game**, **Bonus**, **Challenge** or **Offer**. Everything in the section changes to match.

| Part | What it shows |
| - | - |
| Table | Each campaign and its activities of that kind, with the columns **Allocated** and **Redeemed %**. **Allocated** means the customer was given the activity. **Redeemed %** is the share of **Allocated** that was redeemed, shown as a fraction, so 0.5 means half. Use **Select activities** to narrow the table to some activities. |
| **Unique** or **Total** | Switches the counts between the number of different customers and the total number of times. |
| Engagement funnel | Titled **Engagement funnel for Game**, or the kind you picked. A bar for each step, so you can see where customers drop off. The steps depend on the kind, as the tabs below explain. |
| Customer segments | Titled **Customer segments for Game**, or the kind you picked. The same customers split into groups. The left dropdown picks the grouping, such as **RFM**, which groups customers by how recently, how often and how much they buy. The right dropdown picks the step, such as **Allocated**. |

Each kind of activity has its own funnel steps. Pick a kind to see what each step counts.

**Game**

| Step | What it counts |
| - | - |
| **Allocated** | The customers the game is for, set on its **Segmentation** tab. With **All members**, that's every customer. |
| **Started** | The customers who won at least once. Plays they lost don't count. With **Total**, every win counts. |
| **Activated** | The same customers as **Started**. |
| **Redeemed** | The customers who got their prize. A coupon counts once they use it in a purchase. A bonus or custom reward counts as soon as they win it. |

For a game, **Started** and **Activated** count the same thing, so their bars are always the same.

**Bonus**

| Step | What it counts |
| - | - |
| **Allocated** | The customers the bonus is for, set on its **Segmentation** tab. With **All members**, that's every customer. |
| **Activated** | The customers who earned the bonus in a purchase. With **Total**, every time they earned it counts. |
| **Redeemed** | The same customers as **Activated**. |

For a bonus, **Activated** and **Redeemed** count the same thing, so their bars are always the same.

**Challenge**

| Step | What it counts |
| - | - |
| **Allocated** | The customers the challenge is for, set on its **Segmentation** tab. With **All members**, that's every customer. |
| **Started** | The customers who made progress on their card at least once. With **Total**, every time progress was added counts. |
| **Activated** | The customers who completed a card. With **Total**, every completed card counts. It doesn't mean they activated the challenge in the app. |
| **Redeemed** | The customers who completed a card. When they count depends on the reward. A coupon counts once they use it in a purchase. A bonus or custom reward counts as soon as the card is complete. On a [lottery challenge](/business-documentation/activities/challenges/draw-lottery-winners), that's before the draw, so customers who don't win count too. |

**Offer**

| Step | What it counts |
| - | - |
| **Allocated** | The customers who were given the offer's coupon. |
| **Activated** | The customers who activated the coupon. With **Total**, every activated coupon counts. Whether customers activate a coupon depends on the [offer type](/business-documentation/activities/offers/offer-types). |
| **Redeemed** | The customers who used the coupon in a purchase. With **Total**, every use counts. |

On the left are Select activities, the Unique and Total switch set to Unique, and a table of campaigns and their activities with the columns Allocated and Redeemed %. In the middle, Engagement funnel for Game has bars for Allocated, Started, Activated and Redeemed. On the right, Customer segments for Game is grouped by RFM and set to Allocated, with bars for Churned, Loyals, One-off Visitors, Potentials, Small Baskets and Unknown, with the Unknown bar at 97%. The Redeemed % column is cut off on the right of the table, so its values don't show. ## Trends over time

The section titled *How are campaigns trending over time?* plots a figure week by week. Pick the figure in the dropdown on the right, such as **Redeemed (count)**.

| Tab | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Separate campaigns** | One line for each of your top 7 campaigns. |
| **Total view** | The same 7 campaigns stacked in one chart, each in its own colour, so the top edge shows their total. |

![The section How are campaigns trending over time? on the Promotion dashboard. The dropdown on the right is set to Redeemed (count), and the Total view tab is picked beside Separate campaigns. The stacked area chart Total redeemed (count) by week for top 7 campaigns runs from week 2025-44 to week 2026-32, with each of the 7 campaigns in its own colour and a key on the right.
