# Communication

> What a communication is, how the five communications differ, and where you set one up.

This page helps you understand communications before you create one. A communication tells customers something, by push, by email, or with a banner, feed or prompt in your app. It doesn't give them a reward. For that, add an [offer](/business-documentation/activities/offers), [bonus](/business-documentation/activities/bonuses), [challenge](/business-documentation/activities/challenges) or [game](/business-documentation/activities/games) to the campaign.

| Term | What it is |
| - | - |
| **Push** | A short message on the customer's phone. |
| **Email** | A message in the customer's inbox. |
| **Banner** | An image in the app that customers can tap. |
| **Feed** | A post on the app's home screen. A [partner benefit feed](/business-documentation/communication/partner-benefit-feeds) shows a partner's benefit. |
| **Prompt** | A pop-up message in the app, with one or two buttons. |
| **Deeplink** | The app screen that opens when a customer taps a push, banner, feed or prompt. |

## Where communications are managed

You add a communication inside a campaign, from **Add activity** or as a block on the [orchestration canvas](/business-documentation/campaigns/orchestration-canvas). You decide what it says, who gets it and when. Lobyco then sends it or shows it in your app.

To find one later, tick it under **Communication** in the [campaign list's filters](/business-documentation/campaigns/find-and-manage-campaigns). The old lists under **Toolbox** are read-only.

## Looking for examples?
